Syllabus

Gareth (my professor in Belgium) emailed me my syllabus for the two courses I'm taking with him. While it's a rough syllabus and probably subject to LOTS of changes as politics continue changing over there--the EU is electing new members the week before we arrive--it's looking like a pretty sweet deal on my end.

My homework involves staying up to date on current events, which shouldn't be hard to do in such a journalistic/political city.

My first day is indeed the same day I arrive. Awesome. Sleep deprivation AND a three-hour class with people I don't know in a country I've never visited? Should be fun!

My house is right in the prime restaurant/bar area of the city. While this is super promising for nightlife entertainment, I can also see it getting fairly obnoxious if I'm trying to sleep at night and people are loud from their evening festivities. Ah well, I can deal.

Best part? No exams and a trip to London on June 22!
I can say that, while it still hasn't sunk in that I'm moving international in a week's time, I know deep down I'm really excited!

Ah life...

So I just found out that I have a place to stay in Zurich, Switzerland if I ever need it. I don't know how people define the term "lucky" and what measure constitutes one being "lucky," but I would like to consider myself "lucky" now.

So perhaps I'll stop over in Zurich while I'm in Europe this summer? We'll see. One month plus classes is hardly enough time to see everything I want to.

Trial #1

So I've come to the sorry realization that I'm horrible at blogging and should probably improve upon that. Ergo, I have created a blog to document my time spent in Belgium this summer 2009.

This is not an update other than to list the following information:

I will leave St. Louis on Sunday June 7th, fly to Atlanta, then to Brussels.
I stay in Brussels, Belgium taking two classes--one for Cross-Cultural Journalism and one on European History.
I return July 6th to St. Louis. Somewhere in there, I hope to make it to Paris, Castrop-Rauxel, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg.
